We'll deep dive into Leslie's extensive Broadway career as a dancer and explore her process as a choreographer and storyteller. And we’ll find out what it was like to work with some of Broadway's greats - think Susan Stroman and Jerome Robbins!
The 1:1 Chats are a monthly online interview series delving into craft and process with industry professionals across the spectrum of disciplines in music theatre. This session will be facilitated by special guest, dancer and choreographer, Luca Dinardo.
Originally from the USA, Leslie moved to Sydney from New York City, leaving behind an extensive performing career spanning nine Broadway musicals, and five National touring Broadway productions.
Most recently, she played “Fastrada” in the GFO production of Pippin as well as performing in Funny Girl with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. She was last seen on Broadway in the Tony award winning musical Chicago. Other Broadway credits include Ragtime “Evelyn Nesbit” understudy, Victor/Victoria, My Fair Lady, “Jeanne” and understudy to Donna McKechnie in State Fair, Steel Pier, “Geminae” in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Ain’t Broadway Grand and My Favorite Year. She has toured the USA with Crazy For You, and Jerome Robbins’ Broadway among others.
As a choreographer, she has worked for the Sydney Theatre Company on productions of “Home I’m Darling” and “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” as well as The Hayes Theatre production of “She Loves Me” and “Big River” for Neglected Musicals.
She has had the privilege of working on many new Broadway shows with award-winning artists including Susan Stroman, Randy Skinner, Thommie Walsh, Mike Ockrent, John Kander and Fred Ebb, Alan Menken, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. She is also very fortunate to have worked for Ann Reinking and Jerome Robbins.
She has also worked as a voice over artist for television and movies and has appeared in several commercials. Her film credits include Mao’s Last Dancer, Anything But Love, and Superman Returns.
Leslie teaches Musical Theatre at ED5 International for their Fulltime Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts and at Sydney Dance Company in their open class program.
